This is a special place in my Castle.  I sit
upon the stairs in deep thought and contemplation.  This is a much
larger room than my dingy little office and my thoughts soar.
There were once many visitors with laughing and dancing. People came from far and wide to participate in these celebrations. Then the dark times began and those days are long gone. I am now alone except for the Midnight, the cat, the bats, vampires and other creatures.
I am so happy you decided to visit my humble castle.  As you explore the catacombs,
you will learn much about other visitors and my captives.  You may
even have the opportunity to meet people from many countries.
I certainly hope so because it would be lovely to have many visitors again.

 Alone
by Edgar Allen Poe
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were---I have not seen
As others saw---I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I lov'd, I loved alone.
Then---in my childhood---in the dawn
Of a most stormy life---was drawn
From ev'ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that 'round me roll'd
In its autumn tint of gold---
From the lightning in the sky
As it pass'd me flying by---
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

Just continue following Midnight, the black cat. She won't scratch or bite,
but watch out for the bats!
